PEACE ON EARTH
But the angel said to them “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will
be for all the people.” Luke 2:10
“Let there be Peace on earth and let it begin with me”…A
song from my past but easily found on YouTube. What would we do without our
ability to look up all of our needs on the computer these days? Perhaps our everyday life would be more
peaceful.
It must have been a peaceful hillside where shepherds
watched their sheep. Suddenly, the
pastoral scene was disturbed by a star and angels singing. Peace was probably replaced by fear. I think
of war-torn areas in this world where fear has drowned the peaceful feeling in
everyday lives. Surely the flooded areas
of our own nation do not give their inhabitants a feeling of peace.
What is peace at Christmas? The Christmas story, with
thoughts of a babe born in a manger; a bright star, adoration of Magi and
shepherds. Perhaps it is remembrance of past Advent seasons, or a small child’s
smile. May all of these bring peace and
may it begin with you.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, hear our prayers. May our families join hands in peace during the
Advent Season and may our hearts swell with love for our Savior. Amen
