Are not five sparrows sold for two pennies? Yet not one of them is forgotten by God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows. Luke 12:5b-7
This is how God showed his love among us:
He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.
This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as
an atoning sacrifice for your sins. 1 John 4:9-10
No one has ever seen God; but if we love
one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. 1 John 4:12
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the
Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. And so we know and rely on the love
God has for us. 1 John 4:15
Therefore I tell you, do not worry about
your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear. Life is
more than food, and the body more than clothes. Consider the ravens: They do
not sow or reap; they have no storeroom or barn; yet God feeds them. And how
much more valuable you are than birds! Who of you by worrying can add a single
hour to his life? Since you cannot do this very little thing, why do you worry
about the rest? Luke 12:22-26
With God living in you, you possess real power. Luci
Swindoll, a biblical writer says, “Real Power. Have you ever been so mad at a
person that you wanted to walk out and never talk to him or her again, but
decided instead to hang in there, communicate, and make it right? Have you
invested love and concern into a person who was basically unlovable and witnessed
a transformation in their behavior-primarily because of your sensitivity and
acceptance? That’s the kind of power I’m talking about.”
Jesus expressed his love when he pardoned the criminal
that was crucified beside him. Jesus is alive and well and wanting us to accept
him so He can express his love for you each day.
Prayer: Oh Lord Almighty, creator of the world,
help us to show the love Jesus has given us in all circumstances. Thank you
that He knows us well enough to know how many hairs we have even if we are unable
to count them. Thank you that you have not forgotten us. Amen.
